Photographer Simone Hébert Allard was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba. She has been exploring the visual arts for several years through the lens of a camera. Her favourite subjects are the elements of nature and architecture, and sometimes a combination of the two. However, she is always searching for non-conventional subjects and unique perspectives on things familiar.
A permanent collection of her works is on display at the St. Boniface branch of Scotiabank in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has also had a photo published on a CD cover, étrange beauté/strange beauty (Charlotte Hébert). In addition, a number of her works are in private collections. |

Artist Statement It is a difficult thing to reveal oneself, even through a collection of images. This very personal collection of my favourite photographs embodies me quite well. I am a person with a great deal of varied interests, though most of them revolve around nature. I am always on the lookout for something new; whether it is a shape, a nuance, a kind of light or a new subject that I’ve never explored before. The universe is replete with beauty that can easily be overlooked; it can be found in a spectacular landscape or in the veins of a leaf. This collection also illustrates my approach to photography. My universe is forever expanding as I look through the lens. Whether I am entering a microcosm, zooming in to capture something out of reach, or creating an intriguing distortion of reality that is aesthetically pleasing , the camera becomes an extension of myself, my curiosity. Photography allows me to externalize, and to collect beauty anywhere, anytime. It is a kind of therapy for me. I forget myself completely. When I look at one of my photographs, I remember the experience I had at that moment, and I’m transported to another world. I invite you to join me on my visual journey.
“Photography ... offers the most complete satisfaction of our curiosity.” (Arthur Schopenhauer)
